How does eating disorder treatment work? I am going to start seeing an eating disorder specialist next week and eventually do a partial hospitalization program possibly. How hard is it to recover from anorexia or an eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS)? Does the therapy really help? What exactly happens in treatment that helps? Do they make you force yourself to eat?
Has anyone ever been to an eating disorder treatment center and or do you know of a good one? I am suffering from bulimia and am looking for a good eating disorder treatment center. My parents and I want the best for me, but we have to find a place that takes blue cross insurance (ppo, or something). So far I have found only one I liked (Casa De Lago), but I don't know if they take insurance. If anyone knows of a good place your input and advice would be much helpful. Thanks.

Do you know of an Eating Disorder treatment facility that is relatively inexpensive? I have Anorexia Nervosa & it's cyclical so I've gotten better & worse for the past 6 years. Right now it's getting worse over a breakup that I feel I didn't have control of (we both didn't want to break up but we had to due to external factors). My bf was from Lebanon & he loved me with curves so I started to love myself like that. And it's a bit embarrassing since I'm going to school to be a clinical psychologist, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders of children & adolescents, but I can't seem to shake my own yet. I know resident treatment facilites are really helpful, but I already have a therapist, psychiatrist, MD, and nutritionist helping me but I continue to spiral down. I'd love to be able to enjoy a meal again without having to worry about its effect on my body besides fueling it to survive. Treatment facilities are pricey though, & your insurance usually runs out mid-treatment. Do you know of any inexpensive treatment facilities or one located in MI? Thanks!
Residential weight loss center/eating disorder treatment? I want to find a weight loss center that you can live at full time for a week, few weeks or month. I'm looking for aspects of: Nutritionist evaluation/developing a custom food plan. No fad/unusual diets. Education about nutrition Psychological counceling/group therapy/support group to deal with the emotional side of eating. Exercise components that can be tailored to an individual's fitness level and/or physical limitations. Meals are provided while there. Chance to learn about meal preparation/studying nutrition labels to fit your diet Reasonably priced - which would probably mean it isn't taking place at a "spa" or "resort". An eating disorder treatment place might be able to meet most of these criteria, but I think a lot of them just take place as an add-on to a drug/alcohol rehab center. So far the only places I've found that meet the criteria are Structure House and the Duke Diet and Fitness Center, both in Durham, North Carolina. Anyone have any thoughts?
Does Medicaid cover eating disorder treatment? I have a friend in PA who is finally ready to get treatment for bulimia, but she no longer has insurance and can't afford the thousands of dollars a month for the treatment center, so I've been looking into some options for her. I know bulimia is considered a mental disorder, but would Medicaid cover it?

Has anyone had any luck with insurance and eating disorder treatment? I've got a friend who I've convinced to accept the help, but insurance is pretty slow to get onboard with payment. I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any better luck. It doesn't seem probable that john q public can afford the associated expenses for ED's, PTSD, and other associated psychological disorders.
Eating disorder treatment and weight gain? I have started treatment for bulimia and have been eating about 5 times a day, about 2000 calories, which is far less than what I would have consumed during a binge. Last year I was pretty underweight at 5'6 and 109 lbs. Over the past year I have regained the weight. However, since I have started to eat normally again (no bingeing), I have actually gained 7 lbs and am over my ideal weight which is usually about 125. It scares me because I couldn't even tell I gained those 7 lbs until I weighed myself and it freaked me out. Do you think it's water retention or is my body just adjusting to the new way I am eating again. Do you think my weight will stabilize back to normal again (around 125) eventually? If anyone has experienced this or knows about it please let me know. I'm really depressed and anxious with all this weight gain. I do exercise about an hour and 15 mins everyday. I actually cut back because I'm more of an exercise bulimic.
Best/Most effective places for Eating Disorder Treatment? I've been to Remuda Ranch in 2005 it was by far much better than a hospital setting. I am now 19 years old and have to go back. I need help. I can not do it on my own, I have tried multiple times. I cant live with bulimia anymore it has taken over my life... any advice? What places are the best? ( I also have no insurance. Which sucks. ) But I have began filing out some applications for programs that might possibly support me.

I have been struggling with restriction and binging and purging for many years, with restriction starting in the second grade. I am now a senior in high school, about 108 pounds and 5 foot 5. Thanks for your input :)

I cannot afford it now and obviously will not be able to afford it then, but I have been bulimic for 5 years and worry that it will become extremly bad in college without my parents there for me to worry about catching me.......does anyone know anything about this??? Please help, I need some advice.

Eating disorder treatment? I'm getting assessed by a doctor on Tuesday but I'm just curious and trying to figure out if I can stay in college while getting treated. -I'm 19, 5' 7" or so, about 100 pounds, been thin my whole life but have been losing weight recently -periods have pretty much stopped, I get dizzy a lot and sometimes have trouble remembering things and concentrating (I also have slight depression) -don't binge, purge, or purposely restrict -eat very little in quantity -have very little variety -don't think I'm fat and have those body issues I think it might just be restrictive eating and selective eating disorder that develop when I was very young and has stayed with me. I know that I don't have anorexia, bulimia, or a typical eating disorder. Do you think they'll recommend residential treatment or partial hospitilization? Will it help since I don't have one of those typical eating disorders? My social worker said I need more help than he can provide me. I can't just make myself eat, but I can't explain why.
Eating Disorder treatment? I have recently been diagnosed with EDNOS. (eating disorder not otherwise specified.) I'm 13 years old, 5' 6", and weigh 96.8. I eat 600-900 calories per day. I self-harm and have suicidal thoughts. My therapist is unaware of all of this but says I might go to inpatient. Should I got into inpatient/residential treatment?
